I do not wish to pry to much into your personal life. But surely this project must have cost youa significant fortune to create? How did you manage to get it started, sculpted and recognised in the community at such a grand scale?

I am actually considering making the financial of the project public at some point.

It started with a personal investment of 10k. A summer later I found myself investing another 10k into the “project”. After that initial chunk, I’d say things have been 80% funded by selling the limited runs of the figures and the other 20% came from my tossing in cash when I needed to. Up until Feb 2011, I was working full time so progress was slow but I had the cash in case things looked bad!

Now however, KD is fully supported by itself. Which kinda blows my mind. I am very very lucky. The next big hurdle will be the to plastic step, as it requires just a stupid amount of cash up front. I’ve been practicing my bank robbing act and if that fails… well perhaps kickstarter will be kind to me. haha

According to price of models, do you use homemade molds? And you said, that board game will come with miniatyres. Will it be hugely expensive, and/or what you'll do to decrease prices for more customer-friendly?

The first version of the board game will indeed most likely be in all resin. It will be expensive and is meant for collectors and people that want to experience the best possible version of the vision.

Following after that ( as quickly as i can! ) An all plastic version will be introduced. It will most likely have rules updates and tweaks since everything will have to be printed again.

So right now the plan is to :
1 : Release a limited all resin version ( most likely offer a 50% - 100% off the plastic version for these early adopters )

2: Release a plastic version with the tweaked rules.

At the end of the day I really want to make a good game. One that reflects the quality of the miniatures, artwork and overall presentation.

Yesterday, I just received the great game hunter (female). It traveled from US to Paris where i live. I didn't know Kingdom Death Minis before ordering that one. I just want to say that you guys do a fantastic job : I've never seen such an amazing miniature before. Thanks a lot. I'll send you a picture when the painting job will be done.

I daren't paint these models! I'm scared I will screw up, they are so beautiful! Anyway my question, How did you manage to think of such an immersive world, did this come to you over night? Or has it taken hundreds of hours of thinking?

Why thank you. Honestly I feel like the world is all stuck in my brain and I’ve been slowly learning how to squeeze it out.

Kingdom Death looks like it is going to be fantastic. The figures that are being sculpted and sold at the moment, will there be separate rules for them supplied via one big rulebook including all characters? Or are you going to be releasing them with the individual figures?

This is a good question and it’s one I don’t have a full answer to.

The pinups will always be separate as they are not really “cannon” to the game world and are simply fun alternates. For the rest of the range… I simply do not know yet.

Would the plastic models in the final box set be the same size as the resin miniatures? Also would it include the same models that have been put on sale in the shop?

The pinups are not “cannon” in the world, so they will not be included in the box set and may only ever be available as resin. The character models and monsters all will be… with a few exceptions.

The forsaker for example, will never be available again. That model was too difficult to manufacture and a new version of the character will have to be sculpted.

I've only recently discovered your project - the models look wonderful and evoke (for me) the same wonderful sense of uneasy horror that Clive Barker's early (and best) novels conjured. Could you please explain the significance of lanterns in the game's storyline? Also, one of your replies mentioned your commercial plans of possibly releasing a 'big boxset' - is that still correct? Are you considering a starter set a la AT-43, Dust Tactics when you do? Sorry - so many questions!

The final product will be massive and most likely all plastic. There are two planned expansions and a few planned extra hero’s.

I've noticed there seems to some importance to lanterns both in the art in the backstory of some of the models, such as the Butcher collecting them from other survivors. What sort of significant role do they play in the setting?

Yes, but they are not designed to be compatible out of the box. You would have to Modify them.

Yes, I still plan on doing something like that. It will all boil down to logistics and such. For people that have been big time supporters I will of course do everything in my power to make them feel like the badasses they are. Maybe even something 100% unique for just them.

I was looking through your creation and find them interesting and inspiring, I was searching on your site an overview or story of the Kingdom Death. How did the world become the environment it is, What is horror about it (i.e. Origins)? I love to read these story tellings if you have any to share. Thanks.

Kingdom Death is an exploration of a world wherein the focus is on the relationships between humans & monsters. Further development upon this core concept lead us to discover that humans are not the dominant race and thus there is very little human recorded history.

So from a perspective we could relate to, its actually quite hard to answer your questions any further!

I love the miniatures and I'm guessing it's too late for a change. But is there any possibility for 28mm scale releases so they can be used across multiple games and systems?

I feel true 28mm Scale is just too small personally. Games Workshop “heroic” scale is very close to 35mm. Check out this comparison shot.

The *FInal product will be a box jam-packed with miniatures, dice, quick references, rule book(s), cards, board sections and secret compartments.
